Week 25

We had our monthly check up last Friday. Baby is doing well and my bump is expanding! We start going to the OB every two weeks now! While at the doctors, he mentioned that the County was holding a free swine flu clinic for pregnant women today. Yay! I rushed over to the clinic to get in line. I've never seen so many pregnant mommies in one location! We were also surrounded by the media. It so happens that I was on the news later that evening, shown standing in line to get my shot.

Here are belly shots Week 25. Thanks mom for the lovely dress!

Week 23

Rob and I just celebrated our 3rd Anniversary! We spent a lovely weekend together in Newport, RI. The Fall colors were beautiful! It was nice to relax, tour the mansions, eat good food and just be together.

Baby has been very active! He partakes in nightly Tae Bo session, with frequent jabs, turns and kicks. Rob just recently started feeling the kicks.

I am really starting to show:

Week 23

It's a Boy!

On September 24th, we found out we are having a boy-yay! We were both thrilled to hear the news. As tears of joy rolled down my cheek, Rob was giving me the high five! What a great moment! We also found out the there is a slight abnormality with the umbilical cord. Typically, the umbilical cord has 3 vessels; one to carry nutrients in and two to carry waste away. Baby Cerm's cord only has 2 vessels. According to the Doctor, this happens in about 1% of pregnancies. Potential problems might include a smaller baby and heart and/or kidney problems. The doctor did a thorough analysis of the baby's heart and kidneys and found no problems. Baby Cerm's measurements all look good. Phew!

Here's an update on my baby bump:

Ultrasound Pictures-Week 13!

3 weeks since my last post...yikes! Sorry for the delay! I am 14 weeks, 2 days today and a lot has changed in the past 3 weeks. My clothes no longer fit, I am less tired during the day (but let's be honest I still find time to nap), and baby looks like a baby on the ultrasound!

Last week we went to see a specialist to have the 1st Trimester screen (where they check for the possibility of down syndrome, etc). The test includes a precise measurement of the back of the baby's neck while the baby is lying down and finger prick blood work. This test is elective and Rob and I struggled with the decision. We decided to go. Baby was very active! Ultrasound #1 indicated that my uterus was contracted and baby was squashed upright. I had to wait about 30 minutes for the contraction to pass. Ultrasound #2 showed baby rubbing his/her face and sucking his/her thumb in an upright position. Super cute but not the exact position the technician needed. Again, I had to wait about 40 minutes to hopefully find baby in a better position.

Ultrasound #3 showed baby completely upside down with a case of the hiccups. LOL! So needless to say, we did not have proper conditions for the test that day.

Rob has been very understanding, supportive and flexible with his schedule. He accompanies me on all my appointments. What a great husband!

My mom will be here in September and we'll find out the sex!

Baby Bump - Week 11!

They say "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." Well...not in my case. Rob and I went on vacation in Vegas back in May with our friends and I was actually pregnant (and had no idea!) We had discussed trying to get pregnant after Vegas, so we were thrilled!

We had our first doctor's visit on June 25th and it was amazing to see the baby with a heart beat on the ultrasound. Yay and relief! It became evident on that day that every life is so very special and delicate. I cannot wait to shower this baby with love and joy!

I have been feeling great, but get tired in the afternoons. Morning sickness has not been an issue. Unfortunately, I've been craving cheesy, salty and sweet junk food, i.e., cheetos, chocolate and baked beans (weird!). On the flip side, I am still able to exercise and enjoy riding my bike to the gym to swim, and lifting weights at home.

Here I am, small baby bump and all, Week 11:

Stay tuned for more updates. We have our 2nd doctor's visit tomorrow and I'll be sure to check in. I have to say "Thank You" to my friend, Desiree, for inspiring me to blog about my pregnancy!
